Showing some bias

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Finished the Teva Durham’s Bias Fair Isle yesterday, wore it to work today.  My cubemate Allison took a picture that I’ll post tonight.

Also found something to do with all that worsted weight Red Heart Acrylic I have: Warm Up America.  This project is requesting 7×9inch rectangles to make blankets for charity.  Since I am now technically in-between knitting projects, I may do this on the way to the track on Sunday.  WOOHOO! Live horseracing begins at Fonner Park today.

Did some seaming last night: Bias Fair-Isle Sweater, One Arm

(Large Pic)

Started on some of the edging also.  It’s all taking forever.

The moment where I try to save you from your knitting

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

I have just discovered that my continental stitch is horribly wrong.

I’ve been knitting around it for years…”Oh, this knit2tog doesn’t lay the correct direction?” I ssk for k2tog, and vice versa. It is probably also why none of the people I have taught really read patterns.

Here is the sight that showed me the light:

Techknitting: The continental knit stitch

Luckily, I’ve been doing the purling correctly. It doesn’t make sense to me that the yarn goes over the needle for the purl, and needs to be jiggered up over for the knit stitch. I’ve been knitting incorrectly for FIVE YEARS. Thanks David Bowie!

Later tonight I’m going to start updating the site with previously finished projects, and my current project, Teva Durham’s Bias Fair Isle from Loop-d-Loop. I just finished the neck, and am now seaming up the sleeves.
