don’t squeeze the charmin

I started on a quilt about 2-3 years ago. I cut some really old clothes into scraps, and arranged them into strips. I ran into some problems when sewing together some stretchy lycra/cotton with some unforgiving polyester on my sister’s machine. My mother’s 1960s DRESSMAKER was usually up to the task, but just too heavy to move.

Tyrone and I received a Hello Kitty Sewing Machine as a wedding gift (he really does benefit from it more than I do sometimes). After a small tune-up at the sew/vac shop, it handles the disparity in fabric wonderfully. I pulled out the start of the bargello quilt, and started cutting the stripes into smaller stripes.

The stripes are then sewed back together in waves. Most bargello quilts are quite orderly, but this one is a bit frantic.

My niece Ashleigh is coming to stay with us for a week. This could be a fun project to share with her….OR…we could just end up making granny squares the entire time….OR just playing video games to annoy Tyrone.
