After a week of knitting, I’m only about 7 inches in, and it is on a bias, so on one side, I’m only about 2.5 inches in. The color is darker brown than these pictures show. I need to play with the flash on my camera a little.

Aran Skirt: update 1
Tuesday, September 25th, 2007Fall Knits Begin: Aran Skirt
Wednesday, September 19th, 2007Started working on the Aran Skirt from Winter 05/06 Vogue knits.
I’m using some wonderful alpaca from the Woodstock Wool Company.
I’m using the Bare Alpaca in Chocolate. It is so wonderfully soft!
The pattern calls for size 6 needles, but the gauge is 26 st X 32 rows on a 4 X 4 inch swatch. ( 6.5 st X 8rows PER INCH!) I had to go down to size four needles! Luckily, I had one pair I had inherited. My Denise Knitting system only goes down to size 5.
I started casting on while watching the Bronco’s game on Sunday. The game got so intense, that I couldn’t keep up with the gigantic cable chart anymore (132 st across!). Hopefully I’ll get the hang of the pattern soon. So far I only have about 3 inches on the far right triangle done. The shaping is a sort of flared a-line skirt. This project could take forever!
I really wanted to attempt to design a skirt, but this skirt would look so cool with cowboy boots, I couldn’t pass it up.
Finished Object: Pillow for Sara & John’s wedding.
Thursday, September 13th, 2007IRON CRAFT CHALLENGE: update #2
Wednesday, September 12th, 2007Stitched closed the pillow last night. Final shots going up as soon as Sara sees the results. Hope the last picture with all of those greens didn’t get everyone too excited. The brown/green brocade fabric was a little to busy to add too much. Until then, another teaser:

Next picture: crocheted ribbon edging w/picot to hold the rings! Showed it to Tyrone, and he is very strongly against asymmetry. Had to figure out a way to keep the lace I had worked on for an hour, yet “balance” the piece a little more.
